5.19.25 i think i have been writing blog posts in my dreams. i will make a miniature, and while i make it i will take a picture. this will be very important for the BLOG POST, i think. and i remember writing about the miniature. but it is a false memory.
i have new little guys for sale! there are two groups of them. the first is NOSY MUSHROG TUFTY 2:
and the second is SCREAMO & SQUINGEE:
they are 28mm scale fairies and they are ready to march for you in a POPPETJE PARADE. i have included 20mm square bases so you may invite them to FIGHT or KISS or whatever you want. sneak a few of them into your opponent's warhammer fantasy battle army! a jolly subterfuge you will both enjoy.
SCREAMO the oldest of the minis is SCREAMO. i started working on him NOVEMBER 8 2023. SO LONG AGO! he is old enough that he has a paper clip armature and at first he was PURE MILLIPUT. i was doing so much with milliput that week. i was inspired. i had just finished TUFTY FAIRY. i was making a bootleg MULDOTTIR family. i was making a push-mold CHAOS SPAWN out of kitten faces. i actually got the SCREAMO legs and SCREAMO torso mostly the way i wanted them with just the milliput, and then i stalled for a long time trying to build up the courage to do the head. the first attempt at the head was just pointing STRAIGHT UP, SCREAMING AT THE SKY but it made him look like an earwigman (did you know tanner has an earwigman, he is planting the seeds of tomorrow in the ruins of today. let's all work together to make the earwig world we want to live in!!!) so i trimmed it away and redid it. by then i was using procreate putty to do my details on the other guys so i revisited the vest and shirt, and then after an indeterminately Long Time i cut off the hook hands and made proper claws. i had been informed by the caster that i would need to cut the arm (since it broke the mold line to cross in front of the body, i think it will rip the mold if you don't cut it and cast it in the same plane), which was terrifying!! i started it with the jeweler's saw i used on the giant* but it was pretty ungainly to use on such a small guy so i finished it up with a hobby knife. that might seem obvious to you but i am an idiot!! then i sculpted the sleeve of the vest to hide the joint and it was ready to go to the spinny-metal-machine.
TUFTIES nosey, mushrog, and tufty 2 were all started at roughly the same time and languished for awhile as i figured out how to use procreate** and how i wanted to do their fur. i think i've got it now: i use my main sculpting tool to do kind of rolling criss cross lines for the underlying texture and then later i add the perfect number of random sausages (it's 5) over the top which i tease into the mussed noodles that you can see on the finished model. mushrog was almost all mussed noodles at some point and so i am afraid their fur is the most chaotic and yarn-like. i briefly toyed with the idea of calling all of these fairies TUFTY FAIRIES and making them tufty 2, 3, and 4 but ultimately did not do that because i think it undercuts the idea that every fairy is its own entity and it is Too Rational, even though it does complicate the idea of What Is A Tufty Fairy a bit. IT WASN'T WORTH IT.
SQUINGEE squingee is the last model, lovingly cast by ex obscuris at the last minute for me before i went to con of the north. amusingly, he began his life as a use-up-the-putty milliput monster. i enjoy the contrast between screamo and squingee in shape, size, and apparent temperament. his name comes from the gentle exasperation that follows my cat around in his various devilish pursuits. it was VERY DIFFICULT to figure out how to draw him and i went through a lot of sticky notes before i settled on the beleagured expression we all know and love.
well there they are! my babies! please buy them. i'm working on a few things next: |
